Updates and AI Chat Trends in 2023 – ChatGPT stormed the digital world. The last statistics shows that ChatGPT crossed 100 million users by January 2023. It is a product of OpenAI, a Research and Development lab, founded by Elon Musk, Sam Altman, Greg Brockman, Ilya Sutskever, John Schulman, and Wojciech Zaremba on 11th of December 2015. OpenAI is under 2 legal entities, first, a company called OpenAI LP andanother one, and NGO called OpenAI Inc. In 2018, Musk resigned from the board of directors, while Altman serves as the CEO and Brockman as the Chairman and President.
GPT means “Generative Pre-trained Transformer”. It is a type of deep learning algorithm that has been pre-trained on large amounts of text data to generate human-like responses to prompts or questions, which is the technology behind ChatGPT.
Microsoft Updates With ChatGPT
Microsoft invested 1 billion US dollars in OpenAI as part of a multiyear partnership with the research lab. As part of this partnership, Microsoft would become OpenAI’s preferred partner for commercializing its technologies, and would have exclusive access to certain new AI models developed by OpenAI, including GPT-3. However, it’s important to note that while Microsoft has a significant investment in OpenAI and a close working relationship with the lab, it does not own or control OpenAI or its products, including ChatGPT.
Now with the New Bing, Microsoft created an AI model to combine the Bing index, ranking, and answers search results with OpenAI’s GPT models. You need to login with your outlook account and ask to be part of a waiting list to try the New Bing (March 2023).
Google’s Retaliation
In the first week of February 2023, Google, the leading search engine company, introduced BRAD, itsconversational chatbot service. It is expected to compete with Microsoft’s ChatGPT. But it’s still under testing. BRAD is powered by Google’s Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA).
Meta Reminds Us: They Know AI
On the 24th of February 2023, Meta announced a new large language model AI called LLaMA. It is not likeChatGPT or Bing. Users cannot directly interact or chat with it. Rather, it is a research tool that Meta is making available with the goal of democratizing access to the rapidly evolving field of AI language models. The aim is to assist experts in identifying and addressing issues like misinformation that can arise in these models.
